LOST RELICS – DIE + CRY + LOATHE

When I think of loud, heavy, massive riffs I think of Denver heavy hitters LOST RELICS. Combining all the best things about Doom, Sludge, and Stoner Rock, this four piece power house always bring the heavy. Their live performances are something to experience. The sheer volume and wall of sound that comes from the stage will leave an impact on your ear drums as well as your mind. You not only hear the music but you can feel it in your bones. Fortunately for fans of that style the fellas in LOST RELICS have just released a new album to satisfy that craving.

DIE + CRY + LOATHE is five tracks of absolute crushing riffs, earth shaking drums and headbanging grooves. It was released through Golden Robot Records and Iron Head Records. The albums monstrous and amazing tones are credited to Felipe Patino at Green Door Recordings where the album was recorded. Album art/layout is by Mhyk Monroe from SUICIDE CAGES and the photo is by Ian Clark. While the album cover gives a ominous and bleak vibe, the music itself is both those and intense as you will find out upon listening.

From the opening track, ‘Scene Token’, you can tell this is going to be a great journey into the sound of LOST RELICS. Neck muscles will certainly be getting a workout from all the headbanging. Once your loosened up and fall into the groove, they hit you with their first single from the album ‘Hangxiety’. This track is a certified ass kicker from start to finish. The killer opening riff is probably one of my favorites on the album. And trust me, there are a ton of sick riffs on this album. You gotta check out the video for ‘Hangxiety’ on their YouTube page as well. Track three is ‘Dead Men Don’t Need Silver’. This song gives you a real taste of that Denver Dirt Rock sound that LOST RELICS brings. Powerful grooves and punchy riffs dominate this track. The fourth track, ‘Doomed From The Womb’ is the second single off the album. The band also created a video for this song which you can see here. The video matches the emotion and anger of this track with it’s dark and moody tones. The fifth and final track on the album is ‘100 Years’. Clocking in at just under 8 minutes this tune is worth every second of it. Sometimes when a band finds that killer riff it just deserves to be played over and over cause its just that good. And LOST RELICS certainly found such a sweet riff on this song.

Overall DIE + CRY + LOATHE is a solid display of heavy ass music. I really believe LOST RELICS nailed it on this album. Front to back the album rocks and has everything one can ask for. Hard hitting riffs, heavy grooves, loud crunchy guitars, gritty bass, ferocious drums, and angry vocals. There is no shortage of riffage on this album. Naturally the one true way to listen to it is with the volume cranked. But you don’t have to take my word for it. You can snag a CD or digital copy on their Band Camp page and find out for yourself. You can also grab one from the band at any of their upcoming shows.
